The life of Elvis Presley against a background of colonel thomas Andrew Parker’s dying moments, where we see him in rise and fall and eventual failure, drug dependence and disillusionment. Hounded by financial ruin as well as guilt for what he had done, Parker tells how he helped make Elvis an icon. The story covers their relationship from Elvis’ poor background, meteoric rise and tragic private period.
The story reveals how societal pressures, political turmoils and tragic events that affect him shape the legend. Elvis travels down this road amid much scrutiny from society, political interference, and personal demons, while Parker’s dogged quest for profit slowly destroys this relationship and Elvis memory itself. Regardless of their common destiny, the respective trails lead to distinct futures, with the tragic demise of the “Colonel” demonstrating how far away Elvis music is still reigning supreme to this day.

It was Austen Butler’s performance that prompted the Elvis movie to get a twelve-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival just last month. Austin Butler is good too as he does sing in his own voice and should not be forgotten.
